About this Project

We are collecting photos of ex-boyfriends in front of monuments.

We want anyone—you—to send your photo of an ex-boyfriend in front of a monument. Any ex-boyfriend. There’s no particular definition for monument: the photo is just as much about the place as the person in it.

And we want you to tell us about your photos.

Go through all your photos. If you don’t find an ex-boyfriend in front of monument photo, let us know that you looked! Tell us about slogging through your photos. If you’ve never had an ex-boyfriend, ask your sisters, mother, your grandmother, your gay friends to look through their photos. Or, better yet, help them look. Find your ex and ask him for photos.

There are no big rules to this project. The monument does not have to be immediately recognizable, and the ex-boyfriend’s face doesn’t have to be in the photo. We want to hear the story of that photo, of your ex-boyfriend, and of you.
